Cardiologists take home the most income compared to other medical professionals, with an average salary of $353,970.

While most are employed in physician offices (approximately 14,450 out of 18,610), the industry where they make the most money is in outpatient care centers, at an average of $366,520, which is over $10,000 more per year than the average that cardiologists make overall, according to Forbes, “Highest Paying Medical Jobs In 2022” review.

Radiologists also ranked among the top ten, earning $301,720. The top seven had average annual salaries surpassing $300,000. “Perhaps not surprisingly, these healthcare occupations tend to be specialized, though more general physicians and dentists rank among the top 50 highest paying medical jobs as well,” according to the report.

Here are the top ten:
Cardiologist - $353,970
Anesthesiologist - $331,190
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons - $311,460
Emergency Medicine physicians - $310,640

But many of the 50 highest-paying medical jobs saw weak growth or dives in salary. The average prosthodontist (24 on the list) saw their own dip by a third (33.1%), from $214,870 to $143,730. Dentists, all other specialists (21), also saw an 8% decline, from $194,930 to $179,400; and dentists, general (22), saw a 7.6% year-over-year drop, from $180,830 to $167,160

The data was compiled from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) Occupational Employment Statistics (OES) and isolated occupations that fall into their category, Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations.
