The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation announced that new research has found the rate of infection at city public hospitals has dropped dramatically since 2005. The research stated that NYC's 11 public hospitals have achieved a 55 percent reduction in bloodstream infections and a 78 percent reduction in ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Officials from facilities like Bellevue Hospital Center and Jacobi Medical Center said the reduction is because of clinical practices and interventions like proper hygiene.
