Hospitals can improve patient experiences by replacing static white boards with digital displays and multi-function televisions

Embracing new technologies generally comes with a financial cost, and hospital systems around the world are grappling with which technologies they should invest in to improve patient experiences and care. Beyond the primary need for medical devices and machines, there is a growing movement in the industry to create more patient-friendly rooms that help patients understand their care and ensure accurate record keeping.

Dotting the I’s
Digitization has been growing in hospital and medical settings for years, but until now it has largely been relegated to backend use by staff. Now, a new wave of healthcare-focused technologies are enabling medical centers to deliver up-to-date care information and modern media options directly to patients. Many models offer up-to-date wireless connectivity alongside hard-wired ethernet ports, making them easy to install anywhere there is a power outlet. Other products, particularly smaller sized displays and hospital-grade TVs, may even include Power over Ethernet capability that eliminates the need for a 120V outlet entirely, adding even greater flexibility to placement. Both of these can help keep a lid on costs by streamlining installation.

Medical professionals want tools that help them deliver better care and improve patient morale, while patients want greater understanding of their care and to stay connected to their daily online activities. Technology manufacturers have listened and responded with a range of digital displays and in-room TVs that can help hospitals and medical facilities enhance in-room information sharing and show patients they are using the latest tools to deliver modern care.
