KARL STORZ and Fujifilm Healthcare Americas Corporation have announced a strategic partnership aimed at combining KARL STORZ’s expertise in operating room (OR) integration with Fujifilm’s advanced gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopic imaging solutions.
The partnership seeks to enhance surgical ORs, hospital GI suites, and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) by integrating flexible GI endoscopes with modular OR technology. This integration is intended to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and ultimately enhance patient care.
The combined system allows for the real-time streaming, capturing, and archiving of clinical data from various sources, which can be critical in procedures such as colorectal, rectal, and bariatric surgeries, as well as routine GI interventions.
Christy Gaudet, vice president of surgical sales and marketing at KARL STORZ United States, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, noting that it will "redefine a modern-day GI suite" by merging the strengths of both companies. Taisuke Fujita, general manager of endoscopy at Fujifilm Healthcare Americas, emphasized the importance of comprehensive image and video integration to optimize surgical procedures.
Through this joint effort, KARL STORZ and Fujifilm plan to market their solutions together, aiming to transform the landscape of endoscopic care by offering more advanced and integrated systems.
Earlier this month, KARL STORZ completed its acquisition of Asensus Surgical, a pioneer in digitizing surgical procedures,
for $95 million.
KARL STORZ, a family-owned company based in Germany, is known for its innovative endoscopic and surgical imaging solutions. Fujifilm Healthcare Americas, headquartered in Lexington, Massachusetts, offers a wide range of healthcare technologies, with a focus on diagnostic and surgical imaging.
