Cardinal Health is set to enhance its distribution capabilities with the opening of a new 249,000-square-foot facility in Walton Hills, Ohio, by spring 2025.

This expansion is part of the Dublin, Ohio-based company’s strategy to increase U.S. warehouse capacity and modernize its operations, particularly in the medical products and distribution sector.

The new center will replace the existing facility in Solon, Ohio, and is more than 30% larger. This upgrade will accommodate all current employees and integrate advanced technology solutions to improve efficiency and customer service. According to Sherrick Orie, vice president of central region operations, the automation technology will streamline workflows and enhance employee safety by reducing ergonomic risks.

“Northeast Ohio has been a critical market for our business for over 25 years,” Orie said. “This new center will not only expand our capacity but also improve the quality of service for our customers.”

The facility is located in the Forward Innovation Center (East) industrial park, part of a revitalized area in Northeast Ohio focused on modern manufacturing and distribution. Walton Hills Mayor Don Kolograf expressed excitement about the development, emphasizing the project's potential to boost the region's economic growth.

Cardinal Health’s investment in this new facility aligns with its broader effort to strengthen infrastructure and supply chain resiliency. In 2023, the company opened two new distribution centers in Central Ohio and a replenishment center in Montgomery, New York. Later this year, Cardinal Health will also celebrate the opening of a distribution center in the Boston area, aimed at providing specialized handling for products requiring refrigeration.
