GE HealthCare has introduced the AltiX AI.i edition of its Mac-Lab, CardioLab, and ComboLab recording systems, aiming to improve workflow efficiency and interoperability in cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology (EP) procedures.

The updates include automation tools and cybersecurity enhancements designed to streamline complex cardiac interventions.

Cardiovascular disease affects more than 500 million people globally, and the demand for efficient diagnostic and therapeutic solutions continues to grow. GE HealthCare says its latest offerings will help meet this need by optimizing workflow and improving clinician support.

"AltiX AI.i is built on more than two decades of experience, leadership and innovation in invasive cardiology to enhance cath labs and EP procedures and empower clinicians to deliver the best possible outcomes,” said Jyoti Gera, CEO of cardiovascular and interventional solutions at GE HealthCare.

Enhancements in the cath lab and EP procedures
The Mac-Lab system, used in cardiac catheterization, now integrates the diastolic pressure ratio (dPR) algorithm, allowing clinicians to assess coronary artery disease severity more efficiently. It also includes optional access to a Cath Lab Command Center with a large display, advanced video options, and customized documentation tools.

For electrophysiology procedures, the CardioLab system now features the Prucka 3 digital amplifier, which reduces environmental noise and enhances signal fidelity. Additionally, it integrates with Volta Medical’s AI-driven Volta AF-Xplorer system, which provides real-time data to assist in identifying atrial fibrillation drivers.

The ComboLab system combines Mac-Lab and CardioLab functionalities into a single platform, allowing seamless transitions between cath lab and EP procedures. It includes documentation and data export tools to enhance clinical efficiency.

Market availability and upcoming showcase
GE HealthCare will showcase the AltiX AI.i edition at the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) congress in Vienna from March 30 to April 1, and at the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) annual meeting in San Diego from April 24 to April 27. The system is currently available for order in the United States, with international expansion planned later this year.

GE HealthCare was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the 2024 Company of the Year in the global next-generation EP labs industry, highlighting its ongoing commitment to advancing interventional cardiology solutions.
