When buying any used equipment,

- Current software and hardware.
If you buy a patient monitor with the latest software and hardware it will help prevent potential problems with connecting to your network or EMR systems. If the monitor that you’re looking to purchase doesn’t have the latest software or hardware versions installed, then at least make sure that it is upgradable. Since this is so important, it should be discussed upfront, prior to your purchase.
- Reputation is everything.
Buying from a reputable company that specialized in patient monitors cannot be stressed enough. Other things you should look for are if they offer a warranty and biomedical support after the sale because that’s a big plus. Some even offer installation services and training as well so make sure to ask.
