LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE, BELGIUM, March 17, 2017 – IBA (Ion Beam Applications SA), the world’s leading provider of proton therapy solutions, is hosting its 6th annual Global Proton Therapy User Meeting from March 17th to March 20th. As the world’s leading vendor of proton therapy systems with more than 22 sites in operation and another 26 in construction, IBA continues to seek input from its proton therapy users.

The users’ community continues to expand; this year IBA is welcoming several new pioneers from China (Zhuozhou Jian Kang Qiao), Belgium (UZ Leuven) and Spain (Quironsalud).

The meeting will be hosted by two prominent centers: the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport and Texas Center for Proton Therapy in Dallas.

The three-day meeting will cover updates on therapy expansion and new initiatives from IBA’s Clinical Affairs team. The users will share their experience with treatment of some of the most challenging cases.

A clinical innovation day is scheduled to gather feedback from users and look ahead to future R&D projects such as management of moving targets and morphology evolution. In addition, there will be an introduction to the Proton Therapy Clinical Education program and the IBA dosimetry services.

Users will also tour the facilities of the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center and Texas Center for Proton Therapy.

“We look forward to hosting this year’s IBA Users Meeting at Texas Center for Proton Therapy,” said Dr. Andrew Lee, M.D., M.P.H., Medical Director at Texas Center for Proton Therapy. “As one of only 25 proton therapy centers in the U.S. and with the most advanced proton therapy technology in the state, it is an honor to give experts worldwide a firsthand look at the extraordinary work the center’s team is executing on a daily basis to fight cancer.”

The IBA User Meetings are very valuable for both users and IBA and continue to be the forum of learning and networking.

Dr. Lane Rosen, M.D., Medical Director at Willis-Knighton Cancer Center said, “Willis-Knighton Cancer Center together with the Dallas Proton Center is proud to co-host the 2017 IBA Proteus User Meeting. Physicians, Medical Physicists, Administrators and Vendor Representatives from 18 countries. This will be an excellent opportunity to show off the clinical advantages of IBA’s compact one room system, the Proteus®One.”
