BRISBANE, 1 November 2017 – GenesisCare announced today that it has started treating patients with Brainlab Elements Multiple Brain Mets SRS, demonstrating its commitment to providing high quality treatment to its patients.

GenesisCare’s Wesley centre is the first in Queensland, Australia to access the advanced stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) treatment planning software and joins institutions worldwide which have already embraced the new treatment paradigm as standard of care.

Since its release in 2015, Elements Multiple Brain Mets SRS from Brainlab has been used to treat more than 1000 patients worldwide. The software was the first approach in changing stereotactic radiosurgery from a one-size-fits-all to an indication-specific, patient-tailored approach. Designed to focus treatment on the tumour and spare healthy tissue through a conformal dose, Elements Multiple Brain Mets SRS provides improved patient outcomes over other methods such as whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT).

GenesisCare Radiation Oncologist Dr. David Schlect said the organisation is committed to continually enhancing the patient experience and patient outcomes, including the adoption of high quality technology.

“We’re pleased to now bring the very latest in stereotactic radiosurgery technology from Germany to patients across Queensland. This is a step-change in our ability to treat multiple metastases in the brain in a way that is non-invasive, and delivers high precision treatments in a significantly shorter time for patients."

GenesisCare is the largest provider of radiation therapy in Australia, the UK, and Spain operating 55 cancer centres in major metropolitan and also regional settings, including in public hospitals.

Brainlab develops, manufactures and markets software-driven medical technology, enabling access to advanced, less invasive patient treatments.
