Mortsel, Belgium /Greenville, SC - 24 November 2017 -- Agfa HealthCare and UMass Memorial Medical Center today announced the go-live implementation of the latest version of Agfa HealthCare's Enterprise Imaging platform at multiple campuses of the large academic and regional health system. The implementation creates seamless integrated workflows between the latest release of the Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging solution and the health system's EHR, completing the digital patient record. The Enterprise Imaging solution consolidates hardware, storage, and software, and enables any provider in the system with secure access to clinically relevant imaging data for collaboration and consultation. Five separate PACSs, including services previously in place for over 12 years, were smoothly consolidated into a single solution, resulting in both clinical and IT operational efficiencies.

The Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging solution is purpose-built, based on the company's vision that images should be an organizational asset used by health systems to help reach the mandates of value-based care, population health management, and meet the challenges of demanding reimbursement environments. The platform is designed to enable UMass Memorial to realize results of efficient imaging processes for Radiology and Cardiology users, as well as the growing number of multispecialty imaging producers and consumers across the enterprise.

Agfa HealthCare managed the demanding project in conjunction with the UMass Memorial team, which required months of planning for governance, IT, and change management. UMass Memorial Health Care CIO Tim Tarnowski says his system's recent Agfa HealthCare and EHR go-live could be a model for change management, calling it, "the smoothest go-live that I've ever been a part of. The intent of the integrated imaging platform is to allow us to reduce the number of redundant systems and databases we need to maintain, bringing value and efficiency across our care settings." UMass Memorial's Enterprise Imaging implementation is designed to consume and display over 18 million images per year.
