She later returned to Boston and joined Harvard Medical School where she has been a professor of radiology since 1993, the same year she was awarded an honorary Master of Arts degree.

In 1998, she published Thoracic Radiology: The Requisites, a popular, comprehensive and invaluable introductory text for residents beginning in thoracic imaging and preparing for the boards.

Dr. McLoud's research in interstitial lung disease, CT of the thorax, lung cancer imaging and occupational lung disease has taken her around the world, conducting postgraduate teaching and lecturing. Her accomplishments have earned her honorary memberships in the Chilean Society of Respiratory Diseases and the Royal Australian College of Radiology.

Dr. McLoud was elected as a founding member of the board of trustees of the Massachusetts General Physicians organization at the time of its formation in 1996.
