Los Angeles, CA – (December 30, 2020) Responding to a growing trend of food insecurity brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic, RIS innovator MedInformatix has announced its support of two Los Angeles-area organizations working this Holiday Season to alleviate hunger in the Los Angeles area.
As part of its MICares corporate social responsibility program, MedInformatix has made a contribution to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. In a typical month before Covid-19 struck, the food bank provided sustenance to 300,000 children, seniors and families throughout Los Angeles County. Officials estimate that number has increased currently to more than 900,000 people monthly.
"We appreciate your partnership and dedication to fighting hunger in Los Angeles County as we adjust to the new normal of high unemployment and increased poverty created by the pandemic," said Michael Flood, President of the food bank. "Thank you for helping our community when it is needed most."

MedInformatix has also made a contribution to the St. Vincent Meals on Wheels Program who prepares and delivers more than 1,900 every day to at-risk and homebound seniors throughout Los Angeles. In recognition of its generosity, St. Vincent's has included MedInformatix in their prestigious Circle of Angels partner program.
"In these difficult and challenging economic times you have chosen to share your blessings with those who have so little," said Veronica Dover, CEO at St. Vincent. "I am honored that your name will be added to our Circle of Angels list of most compassionate partners."
According to a recent OnePoll, about 4 in 10 Americans experienced food insecurity for the first time during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to the start of the pandemic in March, the national food bank network Feeding America reported about 35 million Americans, including 11 million children, lived in households that were food insecure. With growing unemployment and poverty rates, Feeding America estimates that number to now be closer to 50 million individuals, including 17 million children.
Pat McGonigle, CEO of MedInformatix, says the Holidays are a perfect time for companies like his to do what they can. "This is a Season of giving, and we are thankful to lend some support to those around us in need. As we look to the New Year, we hope to continue to be a respectful partner to organizations on the front lines who are helping provide the necessities of food and other resources to communities everywhere. This is what being a good corporate citizen is all about."
