Fisher-Titus welcomes new chief medical officer
September 27, 2022
Fisher-Titus is happy to announce David Levine, MD, as their new Chief Medical Officer (CMO), effective September 19, 2022. The community will get to know Dr. Levine as well; he intends to serve as a practicing emergency medicine physician in the Fisher-Titus emergency department in addition to his CMO responsibilities.

Dr. Levine began his clinical career as a paramedic. After finishing his medical training in Emergency Medicine, he joined Medina Emergency Associates, serving in clinical and emergency medicine department leadership roles at Medina Hospital.

In 2010, Dr. Levine joined TeamHealth and assumed leadership of the emergency department at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio and is currently serving as the Regional Medical Director over 25 emergency departments and hospitalist programs across Ohio, New York, and Pennsylvania. During this time, he also successfully launched a healthcare technology company, Assimilated Solutions, focusing on education and training for caregivers.

Dr. Levine earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed his residency training in 2001 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. He is a member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and the American College of Emergency Physicians.

“Dr. Levine brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and I am excited to welcome him to our team,” said Brent Burkey, MD, president and CEO for Fisher-Titus.

Levine said chose Fisher-Titus because of the opportunity to work with a great team that is committed to increasing the quality of care for their community.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to a closely knit community that joining the Fisher-Titus team will afford me,” he shared. “I can’t wait to help create innovative solutions to improve the quality of care provided while increasing efficiencies in the process and allowing our caregiver teams to focus on the patients and their love of medicine.”

Gary Moorman, DO, the current CMO is set to retire at year end. Dr. Moorman returned to Fisher-Titus in 2019 after having previously served as Vice President for Medical Affairs from 2011 to 2013. He was the first person to serve in this role and was the first physician to be part of the senior leadership team at Fisher-Titus.

“Dr. Moorman’s retirement is bittersweet,” Burkey said. “We know Gary and his wife are ready for the next phase of their lives, and we are so grateful for everything he has contributed to Fisher-Titus from instilling a High Reliability culture, to ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe care for our patients, and his leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Moorman shared that he expects a smooth transition to the new CMO.

“I look forward to working with Dr. Levine as he joins Fisher-Titus,” said Moorman. “He is going to have a wonderful team to work with to continue ensuring that our community receives the highest quality of healthcare.”
