Jamie Ayala, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, RN-BC, has been appointed chief nursing officer, Wilmington campus.

In this role, she is responsible for developing and overseeing strategic initiatives at the Wilmington campus and managing all nursing-related functions across the campus’ medical and surgical units.

Additionally, she will supervise the nurse managers in the Wilmington Emergency Department, Hemodialysis, Acute Rehabilitation and Acute Psychiatric areas.

Ayala’s 19-year career in nursing and health care administration at ChristianaCare has been marked by a steadfast commitment to excellence and patient-centered care.

Ayala most recently served as director of clinical operations at the Wilmington campus.

Prior to that, Ayala served in several health care leadership roles, including patient care facilitator, nurse manager of a medical-surgical unit and nurse manager of a rehabilitation unit.

Throughout her tenure at ChristianaCare, Ayala has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, a passion for nursing and dedication to improving health care outcomes.

Ayala received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wesley College and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Delaware. She also earned her doctorate in nursing practice from Wilmington University.

She completed a nurse manager fellowship with the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and participated in the Nurse Catalyst Lab through the Health Management Academy.

Ayala has received several awards, including multiple Delaware Today Top Nurse recognitions.

She reports to LeRoi Hicks, M.D., MPH, FACP, executive director for the Wilmington campus.
