Canon Medical Systems USA is expanding its sales presence in the Midwest by acquiring NXC Imaging, a medical imaging equipment distributor and service provider.

Based in Minneapolis, NXC Imaging was founded in 1964 and has been a partner of Canon’s for over 33 years. It distributes and services MR, CT, vascular, ultrasound, X-ray, and C-arm scanners for the company, as well as for Carestream and Ziehm.

“We are proud of the legacy we’ve created and know that as a part of Canon Medical, we will continue to provide the Upper Midwest region with the same ‘never ordinary’ customer service we are known for,” stated Bruce Zeilinger, president and CEO of NXC Imaging.

Through the deal, Canon will commercialize more of its CT, PET, MR, X-ray, vascular imaging, and ultrasound portfolios in the Upper Midwest, and customize its solutions to each client’s individual needs. It also will continue to grow its sales and service organization out there.

“Our successful partnership has thrived due to Canon’s innovative technology and trusting collaboration with NXC’s entrepreneurial company culture. The results of our partnership have demonstrated strong results over the past 15 years in the Upper Midwest region,” said Yuji Hamada, CEO and president of Canon Medical Systems USA Inc., in a statement.

In addition to the deal, in June 2022 Canon unveiled a Cybersecurity Health Score and Utilization Management Dashboard for its online 360˚Connect customer portal, which allows users to monitor Canon equipment, create service cases, and manage audit information.

The new addition provides key performance indicators, as well as data visibility and analysis for better workflow, performance and decision-making. The Cybersecurity Health Score performs a high-level calculation for facility risk, using both the vulnerability and threat vector of the assets.

The dashboard is powered by Glassbeam Clinsights, which Canon partnered with in 2020 to reduce unplanned downtime in its equipment.

The NXC Imaging acquisition is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2022.
