SNM 2010
Annual Meeting
This report appeared in the May 2010 issue of DOTmed Business News.

This year's SNM Annual Meeting will pay particular attention to the hot-button issue of health care reform's effect on the imaging industry. The society is expecting more than 6,000 attendees, including 4,000 physicians, scientists, researchers and technologists, and 150 exhibiting companies.

"We look forward to attending the SNM conference every year," said Michael Guastella, vice president of marketing and product development for Cardinal Health's Nuclear Pharmacy Services business in a statement issued to DOTmed Business News. "This conference gives us a great opportunity to build and strengthen relationships with thousands of customers and colleagues who share our passion for leveraging nuclear medicine to deliver exceptional patient care."

The theme of this year's meeting is "Your focus is now," which will explore the always-changing nature of the profession and the direction of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.

Keynote speaker, Larry Kessler of the health service department at the University of Washington, Seattle, will discuss comparative effectiveness and outcomes research as it applies to imaging.

This lecture is "a particularly timely topic in this era of health care reform," said Peter Herscovitch, chair of SNM's scientific program committee and Michael Graham, president of SNM, in a statement issued to DOTmed Business News.

Additionally, the Journal of Nuclear Medicine will be recognized for its 50 years of contributions to the nuclear medicine and molecular imaging fields.

This year's conference will be held June 5 to June 9 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. Visit DOTmed at booth 1040.
