Resonance Innovations LLC--a Leader in MRI Coil Engineering

President Randall Jones

Resonance Innovations LLC, Omaha, NE, is an engineering company of experienced, creative MRI coil developers. The company contracts with OEMs to support their coil lines and also offers an array of MRI coil engineering, manufacturing, repair, and refurbishment services. They specialize in combining various anatomically specific coils into one package. Resonance's coil systems provide more coverage and clinical application with less patient handling.

Company President Randall Jones has a PhD in electrical engineering and has been in the business 20 years, holding 10 U.S. patents on well over 100 different model numbers for a dozen platforms. Resonance Innovations was created four years ago and later purchased ScanMed, where Jones had served as president. Resonance has since maintained the ScanMed trademark MRI coil lines. Business is flourishing for Resonance; currently the company is looking for investors and partners because of the strong growth rate.

Resonance repairs all MRI coils of all manufacturers; Jones says Resonance is one of few that can handle all MRI coils and guarantee the results. Because the company is staffed by seasoned electronic engineering techs who design coils, they can reverse engineer a device. Resonance carries parts from the component level on up, giving them an advantage in the market. The company strives to be competitive in price and performance for refurbishing, offering a fixed fee and guarantee.

Resonance's clientele are OEMS, in particular GE, and also key hospitals around the U.S. Their market is also international, recently dealing with clientele in the U.K. The company has eight full-time employees and eight contract employees, with personnel across the country for sales and engineering.

Jones finds the marketplace to be dynamic and competitive, requiring flexibility in business focus from time to time. Jones says the opportunities for innovators never change. "If you are out there building a better mousetrap, there are always opportunities to have something better and to create your own market. That's what we specialize in."

DOTmed Certification has been helpful to Resonance's refurbishing and service marketplace, having gained the company attention and credibility in that area. Jones says to be a player in the refurbishing market, a company is going to have to either contend with DOTmed or partner with them in some way.
