Hillrom Synclara Cough System with only 3.4 hours of use in excellent condition
The Hillrom Synclara is a non-invasive cough assist system that uses mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MIE) technology to help patients who cannot cough effectively clear secretions from their upper airways. It works by mechanically simulating a cough, first by delivering positive pressure to inflate the lungs and then rapidly shifting to negative pressure to expel air and mucus. The system features programmable, patient-specific settings, a portable, easy-to-use design, and can be used in hospitals or at home.
How it works
The device delivers air to inflate the lungs (insufflation) and then reverses the airflow to mimic a cough, helping to remove mucus from the airways.
It includes a "Positive Air Pressure (PAP) on Pause" feature, which helps keep the airways open between cough cycles while the patient rests.
The system can sense the patient's breathing and automatically adjust the cycle, which helps make the therapy feel more natural.
After the exhalation phase, the system can enter a pause state, maintaining positive pressure if programmed.
