We have two 2016 units plus an 2010 GEM 4000 machines. The newer Premium machines appear to be in very condition and good condition. The old unit will not boot up because of was is assumed to be a CMOS battery issue. Pricing ranges from $200 for the 2010 GEM to $600 for one of the 2016 machines that fully boots up to the cartridge insert level.
These came out of Canadian public health facilities where they were maintained to factory standards until retirement. No PAK kits included as these are consumable and meant to be changed at regular intervals. Please confirm that a supplier for consumables for this unit is available in your geographic area as in some locations supply is an issue. No transport cartridge substitutes are available. The cartridge void will be filled with flexible foam material to prevent movement during transport.

Good physical condition with significant scratching on the housing or display. Display is fully responsive to touch input. The analyser completes a self tests successfully through the location and date/time settings stage. It then stalls at the reboot stage, eventually reactivating with the self test display with misc text throughout the background. It appears to have corrupted software. Repeated reboots did not fix this problem. It does and retains boot up setting information between sessions. No password protocol appears to have been installed on this machine. Price $450

Good physical condition with significant scratching on the housing or display. Display does not power up and the analyzer appears dead. This unit was purchase several year ago with a large lot of working GEMs, but sat on a shelf misplaced after the others were sold. It likely this issue is relatively minor and related to the machine sitting unpowered for too long. If a buyer has a potential solution they would like tried, this can be done if detailed instructions are provided. Price $250

The GEM Premier 4000 is a portable critical care system for use by health care professionals to rapidly analyze whole blood samples at the point of health care delivery in a clinical setting and in a central laboratory. The instrument provides quantitative measurements of pH, pC02, p02, sodium, potassium, chloride, ionized calcium, glucose, lactate, hematocrit, total bilirubin and CO-OXimetry (tHb, 02Hb, COHb, MetHb, HHb) parameters. Total bilirubin can also be quantitated from heparinized plasma samples when analyzed in the tBili/CO-Ox mode. These parameters, along with derived parameters, aid in the diagnosis of a patient's acid base status, electrolyte and metabolite balance and oxygen delivery capacity. Total bilirubin measurements are used in the diagnosis and management of biliary tract obstructions, liver disease and various hemolytic diseases and disorders involving the metabolism of bilirubin. In neonates, the level of total bilirubin is used to aid in assessing the risk of kernicterus.
