FEATURES:
The PULSAR stroboscope is a modern device that uses a single lamp to generate both stroboscopic light (flashes) and continuous light for standard observation. Technically, even the so-called 'continuous' light is pulsed; however, due to its high frequency (100/120 Hz), it is perceived by the human eye as steady, uninterrupted illumination.
Despite this subtle technical distinction, we will use the traditional terms flashing light and permanent light for clarity and ease of understanding.
Key Advantages of This Design:
No mechanical or optical components are needed to switch between flash and continuous light modes, ensuring no dark phase during operation.
Identical color temperature for both flashing and permanent light.
Consistent brightness across both modes.
No redundancy in system components (., power supplies), resulting in a more compact design.
When used in conjunction with a video system, as is common practice in endoscopy, pulsed light offers no drawbacks compared to continuous illumination. In fact, video systems typically operate in a discontinuous mode (50/60 Hz), which complements the stroboscopic function of the PULSAR.
This stroboscope is specially engineered to work harmoniously with such systems. A dedicated trigger circuit is integrated to prevent unwanted effects (such as flickering, brightness variation, or image instability) that can arise from frequency discrepancies between audio and video signals.
Additionally, the PULSAR features a high-powered built-in flash lamp to ensure excellent video quality, even when using fine or fiber-optic instruments.
Additional Video Mode Benefits:
No flickering or misfires, resulting in smooth and stable image capture.
Consistent illumination, regardless of audio input dynamics.
High-power flashes ideal for recordings through thin, flexible endoscopes.
An additional halogen light source can be installed within the unit, offering even more flexibility. This light can function independently of the stroboscope, providing several key benefits:
Cost-effective halogen lighting for standard applications.
A secondary light output for connecting a second instrument (e.g., another endoscope lamp).
Space-saving integrationno additional housing required.
No need for an extra control panel.
Thanks to its modular architecture, the system supports a range of optional features, which can be added at any time:
Speakers for generating a pilot signal (e.g., an electronic tuning fork).
KARL STORZ communication bus module for easy integration with other KARL STORZ devices.
The flash lamp is delivered pre-assembled and pre-aligned in an optical module. Replacement is straightforward and requires no specialized tools or procedures:
Can be performed on-site, without detaching the device from its mobile base.
Minimal disassembly required.
No realignment or recalibration necessary.
No special safety instructions to follow.
