A compact heating device designed for the rapid preparation of Woodcast thermoplastic orthopedic materials used to make immobilizations, splints and orthoses.
The device allows you to heat Woodcast sheets to working temperature, making the material plastic, easy to model and adapt to the patient's anatomy
Woodcast is a material made of pure wood and biodegradable polymer; it does not contain latex, isocyanates, phthalates, or dust, and after heating it can be formed without the typical stains associated with traditional synthetic plaster.
The material is also transparent to X-rays, which facilitates radiological control without the need to remove the dressing.
The device heats the material to an operating temperature of approximately 65°C
At this temperature the material becomes plastic, self-adhesive and modelable, and after cooling it hardens again and gains load-bearing capacity/mechanical stability
Heating cycles depending on the material:
Woodcast 1mm – approx. 40 seconds
Woodcast 2 mm – approx. 100 seconds
Woodcast 4mm – approx. 3 minutes
After heating, the material maintains the working time needed for modeling: for Woodcast 2 mm, approximately 3–5 minutes, and full setting usually occurs after 5–10 minutes; for Woodcast 4 mm, full setting takes approximately 10–15 minutes
