Molecular assays to detect SARS-CoV-2 have been developed
and are accessible through the homepage of the WHOd.
Furthermore, several commercial kits based on real-time PCR
are available. Table 2 below shows all available detection kits
which are tested on qTOWER³ and/or qTOWER³ 84.
The PCR setup can be pipetted by a liquid handling platform
like CyBio FeliX. Using PCR workstations or cabinetts offer
maximum safety and minimize contamination risks. Single
components such as qPCR Master Mixes and Reverse
Transcription MasterMix are available via Analytik Jena as
well. In general real-time PCR-based assays can be established
on real-time thermal cycler of the qTOWER3 family provided
by Analytik Jena or similar.

All basic information necessary to perform an experiment which is stored in Project window on the setting map, such as the descirption of the experiment, the PCr protocol, the scan settings of the optical system and the plate assignment, can be saved as a template..

POS / NEG analysis enabled at endpoint:
Positive / negative analysis (POS / NEG analysis) is used to determine whether certain targets are present in a sample or not. The experiments may be designed as a singleplex or multiplex experiement, whereby the fluorescences of the samples at the end point , i.e. after amplifanction, are evaluated.The position of the end point in relation to the cycles and the number of the cycles to be included can be set by you. in the analysis a cut-off value is caluclated using the endpoint fluorescences of the NTC sample, which is used to discriminate between positive and negative for each individual sample. The software also takes into account internal positive controls (IPCs), which can be added to each sample to avoid false negative results and increase the reliability of the results.
This device allows you to offer Corona PCR tests that are not manufacturer-bound.

The device consists of 2 parts.
Upper part: Fluorescence Spectrometer
A patented 8-channel Epi fluorescence photometer with fiber multiplexer and mechanical scouting unit is used as a detector.
Light to excite the dyes is emitted by four durable LEDs in blue, green, white and red. The light is guided by optical fibers to collimator lenses, bundled and then transferred to the excitation filter of the color modules, which are mounted on a rotating filter wheel. The light is redirected via a beam splitter and guided by additional optical fibers to a lens array in a shuttle system that scans the sample block in columns. The fluorescence dyes in the reaction mix are excited by the light. The fluorescent dyes then emit light of a longer wavelength, which is bundled by the lenses in the shuttle system and passed back to the color modules via the optical fibers. In the color modules, the light passes through the beam splitter, followed by two emission filters and is then passed to the photomultiplier (PMT) for detection.

The filter wheel of the photometer can be equipped with color filter modules of your choice. In addition, colour filter modules can be retrofitted at any time and thus the range of applications of the device can be expanded. There are total of 12 colour filter modules including filter modules which are optimized specifically for FRET applications. Colour modules are available that cover the absorption spectra of all commonly used fluorescent dyes, from blue to red excitation ranges.
Lower part: PCR-Thermocycler
The gTOWER is equipped with a thermal block with 96 wells. For the best possible performance and thermal conducitivity, the thermal block is made of gold-plate silver. This ensure a high temperature homogeneity and temperature uniformity in combination with heating rates of up to 8 °C/s and cooling rates by up to 6 °C/s.
The qTOWER is not limited to special detection reagents or plastic materials from a particular manufacturer.

Optical plastic materials can be used in the sizes 0,2ml single vessels and 8-well strips with optical lids or 96-well microtiter plates.
The qTOWER3 is equipped with a motorized heating cover to prevent possible condensation or sample losses. this is adjustable uo to temperatures of
