The name is SONOCUBIC. It converts a 2D sweep into surface 3D and Multiplanar reformatting. The main difference between an external 3D software and a volumetric US scanner is that the first requires a manual sweep, and the second has a motor to sweep a regular convex transducer inside the probe.
