All depends on what software version you have one way is using Floppies the newer software version use there SIM floppy and transfers the software form a service PC.

cmos battery died, had to reset bios to boot, now network connection is has no connectivity

You need to go back into the CMOS and under Integrated peripherals enable the OnBoard LAN Adapter
