I have a most unique issue with a GE Advantx SCPU unit. On boot up the console only displays the top hat icon across the screen. The Kernel boots completely both from the floppy and the ASC. The BIU shows "0.0.0.0" There appears to be a loss of arcbet communication from kernel to console. Console can be put into local diagnostics and works completely. I have replaced, Hub/Floppy board, ECM CPU/BIU, plasma console and still same issues. J3 on transition panel which is arcnet node to console exhibits a short from bnc center to shield when Hub/Floppy board inserted. With it removed an open. But also cable side bnc to plasma console exhibits short to transmitter in console. Most curious. I am trying cables tomorrow.
1. I am looking for detailed specific information on the Consolidated kernel, no schematics or detailed info is available on the GE website.
2.Boot info sequence. With regards to the BIU led displays.
Documentation is very important.
I have resolved the issue with a little help from my friends and a valuable piece of documentation. The issue turned out to be the ASC BIU in that it was not loading the MCD's out to the other modules thus an ARCNET communications defect. The software never got to the 2000 level. Thanks. It's always good to see the resolve response.
Dear Mr Michael fisher, I´m quite sure I have the same problem with a GE advantx SCPU like you had. This system was turned off for more than one year and some of the lithium batteries are dead. I don´t have the information necessary to fix this problem. Could you help me please ?
