Hello DotMed Friends,
I get the error code of "Test 4 Failed" during kVp calibration. I have replaced the CPU Board, Router Controller Board and the Low Voltage Power Supply with no results. I highly appreciate any wise suggestion as I am running out of options.
Hi Robert,
Thanks for your response. During kVp cal I don't even get to the point where to adjust kv, but the first set point it display is 52 kv. So please explain a little more if I did not understand you correctly.
Here is a little more details about the problem I am having:
When I turn on the machine in operation mode it displays Test 4 Failed. In service mode I follow the calibration procedure step by step according to the service manual. Everything goes well until we reach the kVp calibration during the Generator calibration. Below are what we do and the response we get from the
system:
Step- Generator Calibration
Sub-Step- kVp Calibration
1- Install Jumper Cable between TP 15 and 14- We do that and we have
tested the connectivity of the cable with MM and it is fine.
2- Press mAs Up- Router starts and we can hear it humming sound. I am
not sure if it is important to mention, but field light not working at
this time and at all.
3- Press Prep—When we press the Prep button on the hand switch the
solenoid switches on the right side of the unit, near the kVp FLM
Controller board make click-click sound and right after that the
router shuts off and the display reads Test 4 Failed and then it goes
to “End Service Mode”. Which in that point we will need to go back to
system calibration to try again.
Error log displays Error 84 after the failure of the kVp calibration. . We have checked the kVp FLM Controller board, 1 MHz DISK Card (behind
the kVp C Board), the handle switch, the batteries, the router
controller board and the low voltage power supplier on a working unit
and they all work perfectly fine. The only thing that I have doubts
about is the CPU board. We have replaced that one too a few months
ago, but many things have changed since than and I am afraid we may
have damaged the CPU in the trouble shooting process, or may be we are
not following the calibration procedure correctly.
Please let me know if you have any help tips. Waiting for your response.
Where you installed osc. Test point in on CAL KVP? And How much volts total battery volt during calibration. It must be 112-113 volts. If under 112 then charge or great than 113 run this unit on corridor!!!
Load defaults and do all calibrations. How are you maeasuring the KVP that you enter as feedback. If you are using an external like a Kiethley do you have a Portable pack (Standard Rad pack won't give correct reading because of unit frequency of 1kHz, standard 3phase twelve pulse is 760Hz). If you don't catch the lowest KV on meter, just enter the value that the AMX thinks it just produced and proceed, hopefuly you'll catch the next one and proceed.
Test 4 Failed indicates that the database checksum does not match. At the time this error message comes up you can get past it by pressing the mA down(?) key repeatedly and see additional error codes to help define the problem.
If you get "KVP Cal Error 4" that indicates that the entered value is out of range, KVP meter not measuring correctly, Tap relays not pulling in properly (I've seen the little "C-ring" on the post break and fall off of the relays and cause problems like this).
Staate,
The first value that I am getting during kVp cal is 52 and I am unable to do an expose to even know what the actual value is. When I push the Prep with the jumper cable between TP 14 and 15, the unit shuts off before it get ready for expose. I hope I understood you correctly. Please let me know if i did not.
You said that the CPU had been changed a few months ago, I'm wondering if the Battery backed RAM on the board is good. There are two of these on the board. One for Applications and Service, the ohter is for the Calibration information (if I remember correctly). If you still have the old board you could try swapping the Battery Backed RAM chips.
The 60Hz inverter is used for both the light and the rotor, so both can't be on at the same time.
If you are unable to even initiate an exposure, it may be that the feedback info isn't even being generated by the 1kHz board or the KV board that you're putting the jumper onto. I didn't see that you've tried replacing either of them.
To Bypass the Checksum Error for Test 04 perform the following:
- Have the service Switch Up
- Turn the Key on
- Put the service Switch down BEFORE TEST 04 goes away
- Service Switch up before TESTING COMPLETE goes away
- This will restore all functions to allow for easier troubleshooting
Dear Yahya, Salamon aleykum, if you need service manual I can send to you. I have give service to this 10 pcs. ge amx 4 +, I can read eproom on the working one cpu board and send to you hex file...

Error: test 4 failed....
This is a generator failure
Need more info to help
What was the original error code to get you to the calibration stage?
If during a cal, you are off more than 3 kv, enter no more than 3 kv. Computer can not adjust for more than that.

Your calibration database check sum is wrong - Recalibrate unit - Load defaults and run through All of the calibrations.
Good Luck!

One or more of the calibration parameters is out of limits. Check also the tap relays

I guess it's either the CPU bd. or the cabling to / from it.
