Hi Forum Members
I am trouble shooting a AMX4 and Unit found dead. Hand switch and Park latch assembly disconnected for eliminate the shorts in the 24V.Charger Board relay K215 chattering and dying after switch on the system. No display. Voltage at mains breaker OK 112 V before switch on and it is dropping to 40 V and start incrrasing 60V.
Please shed lights on this problem..
Hello Sutton,
First I wanted to clarify some things you are saying. First, are you saying that the Amx4 unit was "dead" when you found it? Was it in storage, or is it a unit that is used daily/weekely that had just been left unplugged?
Also, 112V is not that good.. its actually quite low, and once you turn it on if the voltage drops to 40V then increases to 60V it is really sounding like a float charge and that you have a bad battery/bad set of batteries. Are these measurements taken when it is plugged in?
Feel free to email me if you want,

Hi Zekeng and Joseph
Thank you for your reply. I measured on the mains breaker side, the voltage drops 40V and slowly increasing when unit switched ON and also unit pluged for charging. The K215 chattering initially and after some time no response. No display. The unit suddenly behaving like this and we used this unit on last friday and plugged in the week end. radiogrpaher move from the corridor for use the unit and suddenly stopped. after that I found that the unit not moving when i try to move with pressing the emergency switch.
So what I am thinking, is that probably you have a bad connection/cell with the batteries. Since this happened when moving the unit down a corridor - and then it all of a sudden stopped working, the first thing i would check is the conectivity of all the connections for the batteries/main power circuit. The nuts on the ground, fuse, and on each battery. What type of batteries does it have in it? I hope that there is an external test block, if there is, start there to see if there is anything obviously wrong with the batteries. But with this problem, also pull the batteries and test them/tighten connectors/clean corrosion Because the external text block could have a better connection than the nut going into the battery.
If you can, put a load on them, and check their voltages individually. You don't want to see any battery to be more than 0.8V apart from eachother, because that is a sign of failing batteries that stress the rest of the system.
Let us know what you find!
Thank,
Joseph
Dear Sutton
If you remember the power supply doesn't work under 60 v .
power supply is located under top cover .
please check the output voltages (+15 ,-15 ,+24 & +5 ) .
you have to change batteries at first .

Thank you. I tested the each battery voltage at the battery test terminal block and all seems to be fine. But I found major problem, when I put the unit on charge or turn the key switch ON, Now the battery terminal block showing -50 to -70 V between the terminal block No 6 and 7. Individual battery showing 12.4 and above at 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 terminals. In normal circumstances all the battery showing 12.46 to 12.72, I do not figure out which component pulling this much voltage. I was disconnected park latch assy, collimator control switch wires and hand switch to eliminate the shorts from there. Is it LVPS box problem / ???

Sounds like you have a really bad set of batteries.

Do a load test on your batteries and I bet it will fail. Sounds like you have a few bad cells.
