Error 27-643: Optics Translation Diagnostic Failure
Messages
Summary
This error occurs if the LINEAR MOTOR CONTROLLER indicates to the CPU on the OPTICS
CONTROL BOARD that it did not complete the “wake and shake” diagnostics procedure. The
error is cleared only when the IMAGER is de-energized and then energized. This error occurs
usually with Error 27-645.
Result of Error
The IMAGER is unable to print. The Spooler is still able to receive and queue jobs, but new
films will not be started. Films above the subsystem where the error occurred will be
completed. All other films must be reprinted.
User Action
1. Check for a film jam in the PLATEN.
2. After clearing a jam, move the OPTICS AY to about the center of the PLATEN.
3. “Restart” the system at the LOCAL PANEL.
4. Retry the operation that caused the error. If the error occurs again, call Service.
FE Action
Check the Application Log to locate the fault. The problem could be, in order of probability:
• Film jam or a CABLE jammed in the PLATEN. Check that the path of the LINEAR MOTORis free from end to end. The MOTOR must not touch the magnet.
• TRANSLATION HOME SENSOR s16. Check via the SERVICE TOOL.
• The log message “BAD TM INIT H0000” indicates the LINEAR MOTOR completed
initialization but could not reach the “Home” position or the TRANSLATION HOME
SENSOR is damaged.
• If “BAD TM INIT H0000” does not occur, check the ENCODER READHEAD with the
SERVICE TOOL. If the READHEAD outputs are lower than 800 (or are at 0), check
READHEAD alignment as instructed in the ADJUSTMENTS/REPLACEMENTS manual. If
the output is 800 or above, suspect jams/CABLES.
• Malfunction on LINEAR MOTOR CONTROLLER BOARD
