Turning the unit is starts to go through its testing. However, I get an error stating that there is a data problem. (E041 Rec Data Error) Plus the chest board bucky is running. Almost like an exposure had been made. Upon resetting the unit I get the same thing. CPU and memory tests check good, but after the memory test is where everything goes wrong. I put in some new batteries but I don't think that could cause this problem. Can't get into diagnostics in order to make any changes. It's locked up and that's it. I'm going to reload the console defaults the next time I'm at the site. However, I don't thing that will help. Anyone got any ideas!!!!!! This started because the battery was low and needed to be changed out. Its a training facility and the students just kept hitting the reset button. There's no telling how long this had been going on before they said something about it.
Low battery level certainly wrote bad data into an EPROM. You should przywrucić all default settings and re-upload the configuration and APR from PC (software service)
Service manual information:
ERROR CODE = E041/ MESSAGE - REC DATA ERROR Receptor data corrupt Generator detects corrupt receptor data. / PROBLEM ACTION - Reprogram receptor data or set factory defaults.
Restoring factory defaults should absolutely fix this. It is a data error not an external HW error. But you will need to go thru all the setups particular to the installed gear, eg, tube type, IO's, receptor setup, etc.
If you backed up the generator using the CPI utility it can be easily restored using the same utility
Quick question! But first off thanks! How do you access the utilities when you can't get into anything? Or do I set the console default and then use the utility. You're talking to someone with limited knowledge about this generator.
As fortronik wrote. Dip # 8 on SW1 to OFF position, with gen in off state. Turn gen on, wait for factory defaults message to appear on the LCD, turn gen off. This only takes a couple of seconds. Reset the switch to original position. Reprogram the gen.
Thanks this fixed the problem. However there is a statement in my service manual that talks about two generator default switches. One in the console and the other in the generator. Had to satisfied my curiosity, so I opened the console up just to see if there was a switch deck there and didn't see one.

In a generator at the board GENERATOR CPU BOARD: Switch SW1 position 8 to OFF and turn on the generator. This is the Restore Defaults procedure
