Hi All,
I changed the batteries on a AMX4 + and tried to do a calibration to bring the unit back to operation. The total battery voltage is 112.7 VDC. I get error code 106 after about 5 min when I put the unit for charging. Also I can not complete all the calibration steps because of the error. Could pleased help what that means?
Thanks,
John
Did you replace the batteries with one that gave the same characteristic as the ones that were on the unit? Also try to charge the batteries in service mode overnight and then calibrate the unit.
READ EACH BATTERY VOLTAGE WITH A DSO. DURING ANY CONSUMPTION (SHOOT, COLLIMATOR LIGHT ETC) SOMETIMES THE TIME BETWEEN THE ACTION AND THE MOMENT THAT ERROR APPEAR IS TO SHORT TO BE DETECTED BY A DIGITAL MULTIMETER. YOU CAN USE MIN MAX FUNCTION IS AVAILABLE. OF COURSE FIRST CHECK AL CABLING TO DISCARD ANY BAD CONNECTION
Error 106 = Charge fault
Probable cause: Charge Current feedback was zero.
Recommended action: Check FREQ FDBK 0 signal of the On Board Control port on sheet 5 Location B 9 of the CPU schematic.
If a voltage is developed across AMX1-A3-R1 when the unit is first plugged in, the feedback circuitry is defective, otherwise look for a faulty connection or a charge board failure.
Error Code 06 Hex in the error list.
When I experienced a fualt similiar to what you describe the solution turned out to be replaceing one of the connectors on the charger board. There is a connection to R3 (the large vitrous enamel resistor) going to a multiway single in line connector above TP10 near the bottom left of the charger board as you look from the front. It had burnt out, but just the one connection.

Error 106 is the unit sensing to charge current. Likely you have something wrong in the wiring of the batteries just installed.

You also might have a bad battery, maybe check each one, they all should be within 0.2 volts of each other.
