GE Lightspeed 16 ICE problem

August 02, 2016 10:46

We are having a problem with a GE LS16 scanner:
Durring work system started to skip the image reconstruction / no images were displayed after scan / and to "hang up".
We decided to do a fresh software installation.
We did the fresh software installation on the system which is equiped with Octane/Pegasus computer.
After this system software installation system boots and at one point when the OC is initilizing the system goes into shutdown mode and shuts down by itself.
During installation there is message "Detection of Motorola Board failed. ICE may be
down. Manually reset the VME chassis or check if /etc/hosts has all the entries.
Press OK after you are done with the reset. PLEASE NOTE: Click OK after the
reset.."
After that we are trying to test the ICE but we cannot conect to it at all with "rlogin ice" ot "ice diags or any other way to connect with the ICE.
Also we cannot ping to the ICE from console mode.
We suspect the MVME 2433 board which we had installed in the ICE but I want to ask for any ideas or experiance which you may have.
Thanks!

Piebeng, thank you.
Yes, timekeeper is gone. I checked. 0,26 V.
Is there any way to replace this battery only?
Can I configure it?
Can you describe more detailed the test procedure?
Thank you!

Is this all in Unix shell?
By "just reset the Motorola board to get to ppc1-bug" you mean I have to type in something in Unix shel?
Can you tell me what?
Thanks

First stop the auto shutdown by:

Before the system startups CT applications software, a popup confirmation box is displayed.

Using the mouse, left click the [CANCEL] button within 5 seconds of the window being displayed

Immediately after clicking Cancel, a cancellation popup message box appears.

Using the mouse, left click the [OK] button.

From the TOOLCHEST, use the mouse and left click on the [UNIX SHELL] button.

At the prompt, in the Unix Shell, type: setenv NOHOSTSHUTDOWN

The above command prevents the applications startup process from shutting down if an error is encountered.

Now start applications software by typing: startup &

Applications software will startup and not terminate if an error is encountered.

then:
Reset the VME chassis or check if .etc/hosts
has all the entries in the file.

I still cannot connect with ICE.
I think due to battery loss it forgot the configuration.
Can I reconfigure it?

The .etc/hosts looks OK. I can see IP of the ICE configured. The thing is how to reset it after changing the battery? Thanks

When the VME chassis boots up, the Motorola powerPC (RIP) logs bootup and application startup communications. The output is logged to /usr/g/service/log/iceConsole.log file. There are two methods for viewing this log. One method is using the service desktop, another is using a Unix shell and typing commands.
