I am working on a GE LS4 CT which cannot connect to the IG1 computer and indicates on the screen: "waiting for IGs.....", then later it shuts down recon and displays: "Recon reset failure. Scans can be done but there will be no images".
I have tried to reload the SOL on the DARC and also reload the DARC OS and Applications but still the DARC has failed to communicate with the IG. The DARC NICs are ok and cables connections between DARC/host and IG all ok.
I only have the LAN LED blinking on the front of the IG. STATUS LED and HDD remain off. At the back plane, the POST Diagnostic LEDs are all amber.
I have no video adapter installed on the Intel Server Board, so I cannot connect a monitor to look at the boot sequence.
You can connect from Host to DARC with telnet, or connect a monitor and keyboard to DARC. After the DARC booted up, you will see login propmt at DARC Screen. Login as root or ctuser, then ping to ig1. Also you can login to IG1 with telnet.
Does the IG attempt to boot, can you hear any fans start? It's just a PC without a hard drive and a special card to process raw CT image data. I would reseat everything inside (wire/cable connections, RAM memory chips, special card and power supply. If the IG is not booting, check the power supply.
Sounds like your IG is bad. If it's only a 4 slice you can configure to run without an IG. 4 and 8 don't require them, it's an option. You can do that to confirm then order one if you want or run without. Slows down recon time a tad but nothing too noticeable.
Try setting up the software with no IG's installed. There is a software config for that I believe. Reconstruction will be slower. If you still have no recon at all, replace the darc
Connect a monitor and keyboard to DARC and see the DARC boots up. You should login as root or ctuser. Than just write the command "rsh ig1" or "ping ig1". Probably you have network communication problem. You may need to check IG Bios setting.
Dear CRAIG,
Your IG1 is the problem, you can remove it in the GOC and desactivate it in reconfig before order a new one. This order to continue exam.
Edit like ctuser the file /usr/g/config/INFO (nedit INFO)
Setenv IGNUMLIST 1/3 ---------- modify le number 3 and type 0 then run reconfig ( with application down) and choose in the hardware ‘’ number of IG’s 0 ( ZERO)
After the reboot the DARC will alone
When you will replace the Defective IG module you will put 1 IG in reconfig

I think IG network connection is lost.
Hope that will help you
