Can anyone help with a X-ray tube problem? I get a buzzing noise from the tube housing. I check all function of the collimator and ther are no problems. The Image is dark, blury and grainy. Is there a transformer in this housing?
Thanks
John
There is no such thing as GE Stenoscope. Stenoscop [no e]C-arm was made by CGR before CGR became a GE company.
There were also Stenoscop 2, Stenoscop D6/D9, Stenoscop Plus.... Most old Stenoscops have stationary anode x-ray tubes. I think the current model is the G.E. Stenoscop Plus which has a rotating anode x-ray tube which could give you grinding bearing noise if faulty. Buzzing noise like the bees? The abnormal noise could have come from the shutter motors outside the x-ray tube port. Was it really a buzzing noise at idle or was it a grinding noise? Was it an arcing or sizzling noise during fluoroscopic exposure?
Edward, Thank you for the clarification. It is a Stenoscop 2 MDA (So OEC Says). I have checked the shutter drive motors on top of the rotating collimator. Are there more motors and shutters under the rotating collimator? The buzzing noise is coming from the front of the tube housing. The buzzing noise is at idle and during exposure. The buzzing will stop when I switch from Fluoro to digital spot or in-between any selection then it comes back. Thanks for the Help
John
The abnormal noise is probably indicating a wedge [soft] filter motor drive problem. Locate the wedge filter assembly and try to clean and lubricate the gears and check the filters for clearance.
I have not encountered the wedge filter problem with the Stenoscop. However, wedge filter motor drive problem is very common on the Philips C-arm.
