GE VividFive Timekeeper battery replace

February 01, 2016 09:14

Dear Colleagues!
Last times I faced on a serious problem on GE VividFive Ultrasound Equipment. I found timekeeper battery empty on the CPU board, and they does not accept scanning procedure without time correction. I tried to change the time keeper battery, but after this, the system does not boot UP, with an error on the terminal, that cannot run the startup file "cannot load file : /hd0/vxWorks.st"
I tried to reload the software from the beginning, but I am not able to determine the IP address of the System, I newer found correct PING respond from PC to the System. On this situation, equipment is still be totally dead. I will appreciate a lot, if somebody have any solution for this problem and can share it with me. Any kind of help shall be much appreciated.
Best regards.
Fredi Panci,
Biomedical Engineer.

Dear Sir,
You are right, problem is much serious. I suggest some steps
1- check system harddisk on computer and see is there any software in it.
2- take out all board, especially processor board, cleans it with contact cleaner then reassemble all and check system response.

Thank you.

Best Regard

Dear Fredi,
The procedure for the system five is:
First of all change the battery with a new one.
Boot up the machnine.
In the pc that you attach through service port you will see the message cannot load file and then you will get the prompt Vxworks>.
You have to press c and then enter.
Now you program the cpu.
boot device :scsi=0,0
processor number :0
file name :/hd0/vxWorks or
/hd0/vx040.st or
/hd0/vxWorks.st
inet on ethernet :10.0.0.2
user :s5_rack
flags :0x8 or 0x0
target name :wind8
startup script :etc/init or just blank
other :ei or dc

Then in the prompt you write @ and enter.
Hope that helps

Thank You Mr Ali Hussain, Thank you in advance Mr.EROTOKRITOS SKENTOS. Already I have programmed the CPU board hundred times in different versions. Following is the response from the system:

VxWorks System Boot

CPU: Motorola MVME2700 - MPC 750
Version: 5.4
BSP version: 1.2/0
Creation date: Sep 25 2000, 13:19:28

Press any key to stop auto-boot...

auto-booting...

boot device : scsi=0,0
unit number : 0
processor number : 0
file name : /hd0/vx040.st
inet on ethernet (e) : 10.0.0.2
user (u) : s5_rack
flags (f) : 0x0
target name (tn) : wind8
other (o) : ei

Attaching to scsi device... done.
Loading /hd0/vx040.st...
Cannot open "/hd0/vx040.st".

Error loading file: errno = 0x380003.
Can't load boot file!!
______________________________________________
As I told you at the beginning, I tried to reload the software from the beginning, but I don't know correct IP address of the LAN interface on the System. I newer found a way to get PING respond from this port, so I am not able to reload software on the System HDD. Already I have no doubts regarding with HDD, because the system was perfect until it gave the error for the wrong calendar settings.
Anyway, thank you very much for your advice.

Please don't write somebody that has no experience on this case, don't send me part of service manual also, I have all documentations for this equipment. I need something special, from your experience.
Thank you for your understanding!

This is quite different to mentioned issue, anyway, try to program boot sector of HDD, if this is not the solution, you have to change HDD of the system.
