I need some help with my 5DI 5000. It seems to not penetrate past about 5cm. I can see some image below 5cm but it is faint. It doesn't matter what probe I am using(I have more than on variable Freq.) Adjusting the gain increases sound on the portion of tissues closest to the probe head but doesn't seem to change much past 5cm. Any thoughts?
Assuming the Output control setting has not been accidentally reduced, I would check the transmitter voltage power supply LED, the top one on the PSM. The transmitter voltages should be +/- 115vdc at maximum. (Use an adult abdominal or cardiac preset and make sure acoustic Output is at maximum.)
I don't have an adult abdominal setting. I purchased this machine with the hope of using it on dogs/cats(I am a veterinarian). I will check the voltage on the psm.

Have you ran the diagnostics on the system?
