the 2000 is basically a Sonos 1000 with a some improvements , some additional probes and different skin, the 5500/4500 is the next generation after the 2000/2500 , the 5500 can have harmonics ( Fusion) , 3D , AQ, Tissue doppler , support for convex probes ( it shares it with the Image Point) and more, the Image of the 5500 is much superior and the probes (wideband)are far better than the 2000 probes.
The Sonos 5500 is also a 512 channel system while the 2000 is 128 channel.
for the 5500 , beware of the soft revisions , the A and B have some bugs the C and D are far better with more memory and slightly different board configuration.
