If this is a philips scanner, call for solutions.

I opened the valve and didn t hear much gases leaking out the gage is on 30.

I fould the blue hose connected to the small plastic box with two wires ( the two wires were already tied together.) I was about to scan so something had worked. I keep getting the error mesg overpresure before i start each scan but it still allows me to scan. I have notice my scans look salt and pepper looking? help me out here

Joe, what is the current helium boiloff? When was the coldhead last changed? What is the current helium level?

Also look for any ice accumulation on the top of the magnet.

If you have a daily helium log, give me the average loss over the past 3 days.

HI
Just had the cold head replaces last monday.
No ice on top of magnet
Helium is at 60% yesterday
Helium is at 59% today

If this is a Philips System.
Check the yellow valve in the top of the magnet.

the yellow valve is crossing the pipe.
I had open it to let off some pressure.
then gage now reads 30

Today 3/22/05 when i turned on the Philips MRI 1T magnet I get this msg.
Helium overpressure to low.
How can i fix this???

Joseph,
can you, please, email me a picture of the gage showing (zoomed) and the gage position on the magnet. It can be ice danger for the magnet if it leaks, better to manage quick!

Joe,I dont remember a gage on Philips, this why I am asking, is it an ordinary mechanical pressure meter with a pointer? In which units it is 30? Where it is positioned exact?
The problem is that, or the pressure in the magnet is lower then must be, this is ice block danger, or the simple pressure sensor (little plastic box with two wires) and some simple electronics are wrong, this is not danger.
If your magnet really has an ordinary mechanical pressure meter (with a pointer) installed at the output of the magnet ventilation system and it shows 30mBar(depend on magnet configuration) and is OK, the problem more probably in the little plastic box with wires and electronics

Joseph,

The message means there isnt enought POSITIVE pressure from magnet to outside, that means you have to build pressure.

First of all STOP opening the yellow ball valve, you are wasting time. You need to build pressure. Not release it!

How to build preassure? If you got a remote magnet monitor unit, turn on the BO heatear, and wait about 2 hours to reach about 69mbar (1.0 psig) Thats the nominal operating pressure.

Be carefull to not open any part of the magnet, cause the minimun pressure to ramp or he filling, is 35mbar, do not release more pressure. You can get into a big ice problem if air comes into magnet.

This is the only way to build pressure into the magnet, i suggest you to contact IGC or Philips to provide the RMMU to fix this asap.

Good luck!
