In this case when scanner only gives you half of an image, then the USB Board is faulty. Re-Calibrating the machine will not solve this, not to mention that if you don't have the proper tools to calibrate the CR you are looking for trouble.

this is normally caused by dirty rollers or a bad sensor

When inserting and loading a cassette, does it indeed indicate (on bottom left of screen) the correct size of cassette? If not, it maybe one of the sensors, or dirty or slipping (back)rollers, which may be solved by cleaning or replacing roller springs.

Have you checked the 15 x 30 cm dental sensor which is housed in the feed tray. When this sensor is faulty the scanner will only scan 15 cm wide image. If you unplug this sensor from sensor board the fault should go away.

In this particular case, depending on the software version you simply need to reisntall the software and run a (bat) file that fixes this bug. Remember to back up you anatom settings and calib files before you do so, you will need them again. You can open the reader and test the lamps if all turn on, the it's most likely that software glitch. If you want to dig even deeper, make sure the lamps power supply is not faulty.

Thanks Gerry. I presume your diagnosis is right as the message appears quite irregularly & when we insert the cassette it when massage is displayed, the message disappears and also the screen is erased.

Dear Sir before you do anything else please replace fuse holders for fuse F1 and F2 they are the problem. Be advised that you need to replace these with a higher current rating than original as they do not last before becoming intermittently faulty again.

Fuse Housing, Power Supply (the middle one), connectors or the erase lamps are bad. Start with the connectors, go for the fuses (top and second from top), if not go for the fuse housing (top two), power supply (middle one) and your last resource would be the erase lamps.
If you don't want to go through all the testing, check the connections of the erase lamps and see if there is a bank that doesn't turn on.
