System shows a Col Iris Pot error when turned on. Error goes away when pressing the FFB reset button and then functions with no errors. If the system is turned off and turned on the error comes back. The nodes have been cleared and recalibrated - it calibrates fine but the error returns. All cables, wires and PCBs have been replaced or checked out. If there was a hardware problem, the error would not disappear when the FFB reset is actuated. Something is generating an error at startup, but it is not a permanent error if it can be eliminated at the FFB. Any ideas?
Charles,
Look at your block diagrams and it will tell you the voltage (and resistance to set the iris pot for). (It is also listed in the 9600 documents). I think when closed the value is 0.73 vdc. You can measure it right at the terminal on the tube head. Easiest spot.
Good luck.

Michael - Thank you for your suggestion, all voltages have been checked and appear to be fine. Since we are unable to identify a hardware problem, we are now thinking there is a software issue, and will change out the drive. Hard to believe we have not been able to correct this single start up error - frustrating!
Michael thanks - we checked all voltages and they appear to be fine. We are unable to identify a hardware problem, so we are going to replace drive/software - I can't figure out what else it could be.
I would check the MULTI OUTPUT POWER SUPPLY with a scope; the power-up ramp might be longer than expected, causing the error; possibly due to faulty capacitors.
That would explain why it doesn't fail when resetting.

We replaced the the multi output power supply and it had no effect on the problem.

Wow! Did you replace it without having measured? Have you checked with UtilitySuite? If yes,
What error codes do you have?

We got a newer version of Utility Suite. Same error: Col Iris Pot Error.

We do not get any errors in Utility Suite. The collimator calibrates correctly and it passes the diagnostic tests.
The only error is on the external monitor. It says " GIB ERROR: Error 15, COL IRIS POTENTIOMETER ERROR Pot Reading: 276.00".
Sometimes that is followed by "GIB ERROR: not getting PSYNC_COLL_IRIS_READY"
During startup the collimator iris never closes. It opens fully and then spits out the error on the external monitor.
Thanks for any ideas or info you can provide.
