OEC 9900 problem

January 31, 2014 01:51

I have an intermittent problem on a OEC 9900. Sometimes when the doctor starts up the machine the workstation screens will just keep flashing at the GE screen. It will continue to do this until you shut it off and restart it. It usually happens in between cases when they turn the machine off for 15 minutes or so. Has never happened first thing in the morning or when it has been off for a while. Sometimes restarting it fixes the problem and other times it will do this for a while before working correctly. Any ideas?

Check at the c-arm doghouse on top, is it stuck at 5 arrows.? Check the +5vdc supply. Ps1. +5,+-15 +12:
I just replaced a supply for intermittant no boot. The +5Vdc was dropping out.

Thanks for the reply Matt. The dog house does stop on the 5th arrow, but even if there is a problem in the c-arm shuldn't the workstation boot up on its own with no isssues?

The Workststion knows by a jumper I believe , when the C-arm is connected. The Arcnet node is expected to reply back. Look for issues at the C-arm durring the boot process. You can monitor the boot screen with the service switch on the Video swicthBoard in the Workstation. Flip the switch back and forth to toggle between boot screens and Application screens..
probable stopping waiting for the C-arm ARC node to respond.

Sounds familiar to an issue that I had. I can't be sure but I think that you may need your software reloaded. I have had to have that done twice now and they also replaced both of the HD's too, but for a separate reason.
This is all under the assumption that the unit was shut down and if disconnected that is was done in proper fashion. The other thing to look at is if the C-Arm was unplugged in between the times it was restarted or not and thus having the issues. The 9900's unlike the 9800's have a mini UPS inside them workstation so in case of a power failure it can properly shutdown. If unpluging inbetween causes the issue, then the UPS or power relay may be part of the problem. Again, this is just a guess. Hope it helps.

Try replacing the SATA disk drive cable. I have had two of those with intermittent problems. You can watch the boot process by flipping the silver switch on the display adapter board. Just make sure you flip it back before you close up the emi box.

I assume by what you said you don't even see the bios startup screen? The left monitor shows the RTOS computer which only boots once the GPOS has fully booted. The GPOS computer displays on the right side. Does the right side (GPOS) boot up or is it hanging up somewhere? If the left side does not show anything at all, then I suspect that the CPU board is bad for the RTOS. Maybe it just needs to be re-seatted. Check the battery on the RTOS CPU board as well.

Correct, the GPOS boots fully with no problems but the RTOS doesn't even start. The screens start flashing right as you turn it on while the GPOS is booting. I will check CPU board for RTOS and battery on thursday. Thanks for the Help.

we had the almost same intermittent problem, that workstation screens were showing lines and sometimes display were also lost in OEC 850. Problem was solved by performing the already launched FMI by GE. we replace the cable and inner connector between workstations and C-arm section.
