we are storing images to a pacs type system from the philips integris system but the file sizes are over 1GByte. when we look at their old files on their old inturis the files, for similar studies, were less than 250MBytes.
Can anyone advise if and how integris carries out compression and how to set it up.
First of all it would be helpful if you could say what the file extention is ? ie; .jpg, .png, .psd, .emf, .tif, .tga, .bmp ectra. Thus would be able to suggest the most approperate compression file could be recomended.
Per image I suspect you are generating images of 1 meg per image and not a gig. I also suspect your old images were 250kb not 250mb. With this my first question is this a Angio or a Cath lab. If if is a Cath Lab down size the imager to a 512 matrix and 8 bit. Store as jpeg lossless. This will bring your image sive into the 170-200kb per frame in Cardiac. If it is a Angio system send to pacs as jpeg lossless. Not sure what your fils size will be as I am not sure of your Angio image matrix and bit depth. But jpeg lossless will give about a 1.6:1 compression ratio.
