Hi,
We are installing one refurbished Philips Intera 1.5 MRI system, and we were doing well and almost finished the system level calibration,
Then the RF Amplifier stopped working (it is a MSK, Model: 53-S23A-64) and the description of the fault is:
When switching one the unit it goes to the WAIT position and the fan start working normally then after 20 to 120 second all LED lights start flashing quickly and the fan slow down till stopping.
The situation is that there is no display to check the fault, and we do not have any service manual for this unit.
Accordingly we will highly appreciate if you can assist in finding the fault and repairing or providing us with service manual for this unit or inform any service center which can support us.
- We tried several time to communicate between RF and MRI via TBDAS, but it failed due to miscommunication error.
- The power supplied to RF is almost 220 V, the room temperature is almost 21 degree c. the exhaust fan is work at the first 40 - 60 second and then it switched off.
- Please specify the number of in the RF which we have to use it in order to communicate with the RF,
We are direct suppliers MKS amps, we can supply new amps, repairs of amps as well as parts to qualified engineers.
So you cannot communicate between RF and MRI?
Is this a NEW INSTALL?
What revision of SOFTWARE are you running?
If it switches off after 40-60 seconds, it sound like an ARC is happening. My advice assuming you have some electrical safely skill is to change the tubes as if faulty tubes are causing the arc you can rule that out; otherwise, get a replacement amp or a repaired amp. We have over 15 new, refurbished, or repaired amps in stock and can provide a up to a full year warranty on our sales. And the warranty is backed by us with cooperation of MKS thus no one in the industry can provide the warranty we can provide. We even have options for continuous warranty by addition of a monthly fee.
Let me know the questions above and a good email account, I will get you a copy of the S23 Manual to aid you further, but it is likely that the amp needs factory repair looking at your symptoms.

most of the time after 40 to 60 second from powered on, all LED's start to flash on/off in high speed, and the fan swtich off.
some time the complete LED's swtiched off after a very short period.
Hi,
I did, after On, it went to the Off position for seconds then all LED except Enable turns on for few second then it flashed again.
But before that (all cables connected) I removed the back cover of the upper side and checked the holes of the metal tube between the valves room and the fan with all of the system on it goes to Wait position for three minutes then Standby position for approx.6 m. then the lamps start flashing again,
Do you think that something wrong on the airflow on this tube casing a high temp. in side the valves room and what shall I do then?
Note: I make sure that the room temp. is 21 degree C.
I feel it,s an high temp problem.
Hi,
Yesterday we did the following:
- Checked all cable and connectors at the upper side.
- Clean the sens. And the inside of the exhaust tube.
- Switch on the unit while all system on and all cables connected, back cover of the upper side is open.
- Then:
o It goes to the wait position for Approx. 3 min then to standby position and kept on it for more than one hour.
o When start shutting for test it start blinking again.
- The current situation is when switching the unit on while all system on and all cables connected, it goes to the wait position for about three min. then start blinking again.
Haitham, when your amp looses lights and fan it is loosing power somewhere. when you lose power you will not be able to use a terminal or any other commmunications method to find the faults. The system error log should tell you that communication was lost with the RF amp. Call me adn I'll walk you through it 720-340-4593

Hello, it seems that your RF Amp is faulty. Just being precise, could you please check the fault code or the warning code by entering into service application at the main console if you are familiar with that

This is Mahmood from Jordan, i have a good experience with Philips MRI systems, in regards for your problem I suggest to check the low voltage power supply section, if I am not wrong I had the same problem several years ago, and I think the problem was in some bridge rectifier, so try to check the voltages and every think to check if it is normal.
I will try to find you the manual for this model, but I don't promise you because it is an old system, any way if you need any other helps for Philips you are welcome to contact me.

Log into TSW or TBDAS run
TSW
RUN
FUNCTIONAL
RF
LOG
It will display the AMP error
Or
Connect to the RF amp via VT220 and monitor it as it boots to find the error.
Have you verified your incoming power to be 210~230 VAC at 36AMPS
Have you verified the FAN is turning and your environment meets the standards of under 76 degrees RH

Do me a favor and lets try to make sure the SYSTEM (MRI) control is not turning off the amp.
Unplug all input/output cables from amp except only the power
Turn back on and confirm it has the same symptoms without any input or output connections.
(NOTHING CONNECTED TO THE AMP AT ALL EXCEPT POWER)
Let me know your findings.
