Hi Bill, I've had an issue with the filter on switch on. Durring the BIST the filter disc does a full rotation to home itself. I had a screw in the upper cover which was loose and jammed the disc. Assuming you have a Nicol or Gallilao.
Not sure what the version is. I assume BIST is boot up? This a remote site so the more info as possible. Can you hear the filter rotating on power up or are their visual indicators of its position?
Thanks
The Gallileo and Nicol are automatic collimators, I assume this is the type rather than the manual Ralco. The only way the check the disc rotation is to remove the collimator. If the CS/OTS has a user interface option, pressing the test button will confirm the filter error. I'm sure if you have a filter error if will just be a mechanical issue. On the disc is a notch which is used for homing durring the Bist, it's a nice simple design. Do you know how to remove a Philips collimator like 6028, Nicol etc ?
When I push the filter button it wont move so I tried changing the control board and it didnt help. I took the collimator off and can see the disc but cant see the motor or gain access to it. Is there someonoe that refurbishes these or has specific instructions on how to gain internal access? I pushed the test button and there is no filter error but a mention about cassette and etc. Thanks
Unfortunately the collimator is a FRU all you can do is strip it down and have no fear if it's already broken. I take it the filter disc doesn't rotate on initial switch on?

You may have to if cassette size sensing is active. Alignments will also need checking, should be OK if tube flange isn't removed.
