Philips Tomoscan CX/Q:Error code S60

August 15, 2012 12:43

Hi everybody! I need help with an old Tomoscan CX/Q: at one nice morning it didn't start up and the gantry didn't start too. The error code was S60 which means "communication error between scanner and CPU". I have reconnected all the cables at CPU and scanner sides - no use. Perhaps these are interface PCBs that are guilty? But how to localize a fault? And one more thing: the error S60 was preceded by a repair of the inverter PCB (which drives the motor of the gantry) - I have replaced a couple of electrolitic capacitors that leaked and made this PCB inoperable. Anyway I would be grateful for a practical advice...

Hi,
I used to work with this system in the bast, my memory is quit fading now, but I think there is something related to the rotation try to check that you left the stationary switch activated or not or check the rotation controller, I will try to see if I still have the manual and I will update you soon if I got some info.

Thank you Mahmood for your response, may be I should check more attentively the PCB on which I have replaced the capacitors? I am not sure about the name of this PCB but it has power invertor circuitry on it (suppose, for driving the rotor) and it is located at the right side of the gantry behind the controller with LED-display. However, in the manual mode the rotor moves to and fro... I would be much obliged if you provide me with the principal schemes of the rotation controller. Thank you again!

The issue with the error code has solved itself: after a couple days of various manupulations with connectors and dancing around the machine with tambourine it started up and is working now. I think that is all due to its old age((.
