HEllo,
my system crashed and I was forced to reinstall all software,
I first formated the hard disk with the FD FORMAT WRITE floppy. When I am trying to initialize the hard disk with the second diskette called "UPSYSTEM FD" things seems to do well until the system start accessign the floppy disk. Then a blinking FAIL appears near "Initialisation of MAG Diks" and this message appears at the bottom of the screen
INIT $0001 to $18000004 FROM FHS UNAVAILABLE OR INEXISTENT VOLUME
CMD=ALLOCATE/ASSIGN OPT=$0007 LU=2 voln=SYS
and no way to go forward anymore. I have used a new hard disk but the problem still remain.
Help needed please
thanks

Hello
I hope thath you use a PHILIPS hard disk, otherwise you lose your time.
The software at first detect the disk, after do the rest.
The philips disk cost about 25.000,00 ,other disk is free.
Let me know .

The tomoscan CX/S is shipped with an Hitachi DK512c-17 hard disk, and I bought exactely the same type of hard disk. The system should initialize correctly after this, but it is still delivering the same message as the one when i was using the old disk.
I even did system diagnostic and all PCBs seems to work perfectly... still the problem persist.
Is there any component I should check, or any specific jumping settings I should do to solve the problem?

Hello
As I wrote few days ago the problem is not the new Hitachi disk .You must buy a Philis disk because there are some modification inside.
If you dont buy a new one is impossible solve the problem.

My dear Friend,
Hitachi/Philips harddisks are nightmare fr the field engineer.Dont loose heart, take out all the disks and flopy drives to a working centre and try loading there.

there is a cx/q working center around (the one i am working on is a cx/s) but it does not have an 8inch floppy drive. Could it be possible to initialize the hard disk from that system with cx/q upsystem software?

I thought about checking the Upsystem floppy but still I haven't found a machine with an 8inch double density floppy reader drive around yet
