November 08, 2021 10:28
Dear All,
I replaced the mother board of the HP computer XW9300, when i finished reload the Linux Operating system, i noticed the system didn't recognize the dual network interface card, i tried too many commands on C-shell, with no success.
New motherboard and network interface card (NIC) are tested using windows operating system, both works fine, but with Linux, system didn't see the NIC
System is GE Ovation HD 0.35T
Do you have any idea to help?

You need to be sure it has the same chipset, same micros, same bios. I heard it from an experiment FSE but never had the case by myself

Are you trying to reload the GE Linux? I feel that is proprietary OS. Does your mother board NIC chips identical with the old mother board. There may be issues with the asset ID tag of the motherboard. May be that could be the cause.

Almost all of the 9300s have the same problem. There were a run of bad capacitors used on these boards. They are brown and have a slight bulge on top. Change the caps and all is well. You will need a power solder sucker, the little hand held one will not work and just burn up the board. You will also need a pin vice and small drill bit to clean out the holes. If you goes through this repair, change all of the brown caps, they have different values and voltages.
