Raytheon 600 elevating table

July 25, 2012 02:56

I have a raytheon 600 elevating table that is stuck in the down position. I hear the motor working but it's not goin up.
The tech there says they have notice it getting louder when it was elevating but now it will not move . I've checked it out and it is not the limiters on it . It's trying to go up , we've even tried to lift it as we push the up pedal.
The issue I have is I can not get to the motor with it in the down position .. Any one know of a way to get access to the motor with it stuck down?
Thanks, Chuck Allstar Xray

It's been a long time, but I think the EXT-600 uses hydraulic cylinders.

Yes, the lift mechanism is hydraulic. There were two versions, one had two pumps and later versions had only one pump for both cylinders. They are located under a cover at either one or both ends of the base of the table. Oil can be added if they are low. However, I have almost always had to replace them. I haven't replaced a set in a long time so I don't know if they are still available. I was buying them directly from the manufacturer of the cylinders and pump. I will try to find the contact info if you need it.

Just a thought...can you remove the table top then you might have enough access to remove/repair the motor or the elevation assembly?

No, there is a panel under the bucky. So no access to the pump(s). The table may be able to be lifted and placed on supports. It has been a long time for me. I know the lower side and end covers are easily removed once the table is up. You might try having two people lift the table top while operating the up switch. That may allow it to go up enough. Once it is up, BE CAREFUL as it could drop and remove arms, etc.

The best way to lift the table up to get access to the hydraulic pump(s) is using a small hydraulic jack at one end and wood blocks stacked at the other end as you lift it up. I would first raise it up slightly to get wieght off of the top cylinder mounting pins. Then remove both mounting pins. Continue to raise the table up enough to be able to remove the pump cover(s) and check the hydraulic fuild level. If low fill with DEXRON Type II or III Transmission fluid. After that try driving the cylinders up to re-attach to table body. Look for signs of a fuild leak while driving cylinders. If a cylinder does not extend or retract when driven it is bad. Most likely you will find a leak in one of the hoses. Let me know if you need any parts, I have some hoses & cylinders if you need them. Good Luck, Ron Lorg 727-541-4072
