Hi,
I am looking at a sharplan 1030 and all appears ok until setting power.
After set power to any level and display shows the message 'Power Failure Set power again'
Is this a major fault?
Or could it be just an interlock failure?
Any ideas appreciated.
I am working without a service manual so its not been easy!
First of all if you are unfamiliar with working with high voltage(15Kv) then call a qualified technician!!!
Open the front cover and see if the tube ignites after setting the power (should see pink/purple glow). If no, then most likely the HV filter and/or coil are burnt. If yes, check power meter cables. not much more one can do without service manual.
Like Wouter said, be careful. I've worked on the older 1040 and 1100 Sharplans in the past. If I remember right, it's not sensing any HV going to the tube. Actually, it's not sensing any power into its' built in load cell during the startup sequence. So yes it's a major fault. It could be the output has died completely, the power supply for the switchers has died, or the feedback circuitry is shot. The tube itself could have gone bad as well.
Only thing I can suggest is what Wouter suggested, check the cables over. Check the fuses. And try to use only one hand on the HV wiring. (old tv tube advice)

Thank you for your reply.
I believe you have answered supervisors question of "can we fix it?" The answer is no, we need to call an engineer!
Thanks again.
