Sal,
Slice count originated in the older rotate-rotate systems. However, a more accurate indicator of tube usage was determined to be amp-seconds. This shows how much the tube has been actually used. For example a system scanning 10,000 rotations at one second has double the tube usage of a system scanning at 0.5 seconds.
