SonoAce Pico Video Processing Failure

September 23, 2014 08:13

Dear Dotmed Team, hi!

I got an intermitent video failure in a Pico, PC doesn't start due to it.

I'd like to know from all my very experienced Dotmed Friends, what line of research to follow:

1) Would be a PC Carrier (339-02-PPC-3) defective board, cold soldering, or anything else?

2) Or, could be a power supply issue?

Thanks, very much indeed in advance, to everybody.

God bless you all, take care.

Kind regards,

MAC.

Hi Marcelo,
we have similar problems with the Pico in Argentina, then I will recomend some steps:
1 - Verify the LCD Connector (in the PCC board). Resoldering that if it is neccesary. Maybe you can check the cable connector too!
2 - Sometime can not turn on or LCD color become blue on image area too (verify the POWER SUPPLY).
By the way, do you have image on external monitor or Video printer when the fault appears?
Regards,
German

Hi, German!

Thanks for your kind and prompt reply.

I plugged an external VGA monitor and there is no image there, too.

The few times equipment started, BIOS clock was wrong, and just before it showed, equipment started to display funny characters and intermitent blue, pink, colored screens.

I replaced BIOS battery, and one of the times equipment finished the boot, Linear Probe was connected but not recognised (extra preocupation). Background screen was pink, and it was possible surf on menus.

Now, equipment doesn't start, at all.

I'm looking for a heat blower to check what you mentioned.

You know, the 'face' of the failure suggests it might be a BIOS issue, it's like it wasn't aware of its role, to be prepared to start the PC.

Regarding power supply, I wasn't able to find measuring points, and having the Service Manual would be very much appreciated.

Take care, German, thanks again, and God Bless you, a lot!

Kind regards,

MAC.
